Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Ali Abdollahi has commended President Masoud Pezeshkian’s address to the United Nations General Assembly, saying it was a slap in the face of the criminal president of the United States.
Following the speech delivered by the president at the UN General Assembly on Wednesday, Major General Abdollahi wrote in a post on X: “The remarks made by the president of the Islamic Republic of Iran at the UN General Assembly served as the resounding voice of Iran’s proud and divinely inspired nation. Through the (statements) of Dr. Pezeshkian, and before the eyes of the world, our noble people delivered a slap in the face to the criminal President of the United States.”
He added: “The Armed Forces (of the Islamic Republic of Iran), standing in unison with the people and the esteemed president, declare that vengeance for the blood of our martyred Imam and the children of Minab will continue, and as long as Iran’s waters, land, and skies remain under threat, no aggressor nation—nor any supporter of such aggressors—shall enjoy security.”
In his UN address, Pezeshkian stressed that Iran could not be forced to surrender. “We proved that we do not fear war to defend ourselves; we do not flee from negotiation for peace, and we stand to the last breath for the defense of dear Iran,” he had said.
He had also underlined that Iran’s military capabilities were intended for defense and that the Islamic Republic would not seek permission to defend itself.
A day earlier, US President Donald Trump had used his address to the General Assembly to repeat his menacing rhetoric concerning Iran, saying he was poised to make a “big decision” on whether to make a deal or “quickly annihilate” Iran. Trump had also rehashed his allegations against the Islamic Republic of pursuing “a nuclear weapon.”
