The Saudi-led coalition on Yemen spokesman, Ahmad Asiri, said on Monday that the announced ceasefire has ended on Monday without any intention of extension, claiming that Yemeni army and Popular Committees have breached the outgoing truce.
The ceasefire started Saturday afternoon and lasted 48 hours.
In a press conference in Riyadh, Asiri said “there was no respect for the truce, there were only violations,” in reference to the Yemeni national military personnel who are defending their country against the Saudi invader.
“On the military level, at the moment, we do not have any order to extend the cease-fire. It’s over,” he added.
Saudi Arabia, along with the Gulf Cooperation Council member states, had the US green light and support to launch a devastating assault on Yemen in mid-March 2015, claiming it an attempt to reimpose the fugitive President Abed Rabbu Mansour Hadi, who resigned from power in 2014, several weeks before escaping to Riyadh.
Saudi-led coalition war jets launched indiscriminate attacks in Yemen, destroyed the vital infrastructure and dismantled life in several provinces. A Human Rights Watch report showed how the number of casualties from the Saudi-US aggression on Yemen is getting increased.
