Leader of Marada Movement, Suleiman, Franjieh issued on Wednesday a statement in which he stressed that the US Treasury Department’s decision to impose sanctions on the former minister Youssef Finianos comes in the context of punishing him for his stances and convictions.

Franjieh stressed that Marada has always announced and boasted of its stances “out of our belief in our land, sovereignty and identity”.

The statement considered that the sanctions decision is politicized and will “reinforce our commitment to our path”.

It is worth noting that the US sanctions targeted also MP Ali Hasan Khalil who is the political advisor of Speaker Nabih Berri and a senior member of Amal Movement politburo.

In a statement, Amal Movement stressed that the US decision aims at targeting the Lebanese sovereignty and was like placing sanctions on the whole country.
