Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri on Thursday stressed to caretaker Interior Minister Mohamed Fahmy to discuss necessity of holding parliamentary by-elections.
In a phone call, Berri discussed with Fahmy the necessity of holding parliamentary by-elections in implementation of Article 41 of the Constitution, National News Agency reported.
For his part, Fahmy assured the Speaker of Parliament “that the relevant measures will be implemented by the end of March at the latest.”
Following the massive blasts which rocked Beirut Port in August 4, 2020, 8 Lebanese lawmakers handed their resignation letters.
Later two lawmakers died of coronavirus, raising the number of vacuum in the 128-member Parliament to 10.
