Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution in Iran Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei said there were hardships and difficulties during the last year, calling on the Iranian government and nation to focus on efforts to improve the economy, especially through increased investment aimed at boosting production.
In a message delivered on the occasion of Nowruz – beginning of the Persian New Year- on March 20, 2025, Imam Khamenei went through the important developments in the past Iranian year of 1403.
The Leader noted that the Iranian nation and the Islamic Ummah lost several valuable figures last year, including President Ebrahim Raisi, who tragically lost his life in a helicopter crash, as well as several Iranian advisers in Damascus, alongside “subsequent sorrowful incidents in Tehran and Lebanon.”
Imam Khamenei was referring to the Israeli assassination of senior Hamas and Hezbollah leaders in Tehran and Beirut, including former Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah.

His eminence emphasized that the nation’s high morale and solidarity were evident in their response to the loss of the president, as demonstrated by the massive turnout during his funeral, and proving once again that such tragedies could not weaken the nation.
Acknowledging the economic challenges faced by the Iranian people, particularly in the latter half of the year, the Leader praised the nation’s remarkable strength of will, spiritual resilience, and unity.
Designating the calendar year 1404 as the “Year of Investment for Production,” Imam Khamenei said the government bears the responsibility of removing barriers to economic progress, while citizens are expected to actively contribute by stepping up their investments to drive economic growth.
Furthermore, the Leader commended the Iranian nation’s generosity and solidarity in supporting the people of Lebanon and Palestine amid Israeli aggression. He said the overwhelming flow of public aid sent to support their brothers and sisters in need revealed the nation’s commitment to Islamic unity and humanitarian.
Renewed Israeli Aggression on Gaza Crime
Meanwhile, Imam Khamanei described that the renewed attacks by the usurping Zionist regime on Gaza as truly large, atrocious crime.
“The Islamic Ummah must stand united against this. They should set aside their differences on various issues. This matter concerns the entire Islamic Ummah.”

His eminence also urged all freedom-seekers around the world – within the United States itself, in Western and European countries, and in other countries – to strongly oppose this treacherous, horrendous act.
“Once again children are being killed, homes are being destroyed, and civilians are being displaced. The people must stop this tragedy.”
In this context, he lashed out at the US which he stressed that “is complicit in this tragedy.”
“Experts in political issues worldwide concur that this action is being executed under the direction of the United States, or at the very least, with the approval and a green light from the US. Therefore, the US is also complicit in this crime. The same is true about the events in Yemen. The attacks on the people of Yemen and on Yemeni civilians is also a crime that must definitely be stopped.”
