The third day of July War in 2006 was full of events that dramatically accelerated. The Israeli enemy stepped up its aggression on Friday, July 14, 2006, targeting the Lebanese infrastructure and committing massacres against civilians in several areas across south, Bekaa, Mount Lebanon and Beirut’s southern suburb (Dahiyeh).

Meanwhile, the Resistance unveiled its first surprise which Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah had promised earlier: targeting an Israeli warship off Beirut’s coast.

Beirut International Airport was hit for the second time since the war erupted two days earlier. Al-Jiyeh power plant was also targeted by Israeli strikes, forcing power cuts in several Lebanese districts.

Israeli fighter jets went ahead with isolating Lebanese areas by hitting roads and bridges that links between them. The Zionist strikes which hit hundreds of targets across Lebanon, killed or injured dozens of civilians as they caused enormous damage.

Israeli warships struck headquarter of Hezbollah’s secretariat-general in Dahiyeh’s Haret Hreik as well as the house of Sayyed Nasrallah.

Israeli warplanes struck Al-Manar TV building in Haret Hreik, causing the channel to go off air for only two minutes. Al-Manar then continued its broadcasts vowing to go ahead in covering the Zionist brutality and the heroic confrontation by the Resistance.

For its part, the Resistance didn’t keep mum, with its fighters pounding the occupied territories in Akka and Safad. Israeli home front command called on Israeli settlers in Haifa to stay in bomb shelters.

In an address via Al-Manar, Sayyed Nasrallah late on Friday warned the Israeli enemy of an open war, stressing that the Resistance was ready for all scenarios. Concluding his address, Sayyed Nasrallah announced first of the surprised promised by him earlier, saying that the Israeli Sa’ar 5-class warship, the INS Hanit, which targeted Lebanese houses in Beirut and its suburbs was targeted by a missile.
