Caretaker Minister of Energy Walid Fayyad on Friday indicated that the technical delegation that will visit Iran to discuss the free fuel offer will include representatives from the ministry and the Electricity of Lebanon (EDL).
Fayyad has been to the Grand Serail today for a meeting with Prime Minister-designate Najib Mikati. He was accompanied by EDL Director General Kamal Hayek and Director General of the Oil Administration Aurore Feghali.
Fayyad also told the reporters that he is in contact with his Kuwaiti counterpart who voiced Kuwait’s readiness to help Lebanon in the field of power production.
In this regard, the Lebanese energy minister received an Iranian delegation led by the ambassador Mujtaba Amani in order to coordinate the Lebanese technical team’s visit to Tehran to discuss the specifications of the Iranian fuel intended to be donated to Lebanon.
Fayyad told Al-Manar reporter that all the Lebanese political forces have encouraged approval of the Iranian donation due to the severe power crisis plaguing Lebanon.
The Iranian diplomat indicated that his country’s fuel donation was decided upon Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah’s initiative, adding that the donation includes a fuel grant as well as power plants repair and construction.
