Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian voiced regret on Thursday that some European states under the influence of information provided by terrorist the Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO) which is designated as a terrorist group by the Islamic Republic.
In a phone call, the top Iranian diplomat discussed with his Spanish counterpart, Jose Manuel Albares Bueno, developing Tehran-Madrid bilateral ties.
Amir-Abdollahian hailed as good and historic the relations between Tehran and Madrid, expressing Iran’s readiness to promote cooperation with Spain in various fields, Iranian media reported.
Denouncing the terrorist currents for abusing the recent riots in Iran, Amir-Abdollahian said a number of European governments have sadly miscalculated under the influence of false reports from MKO, which was also on the US’ list of foreign terrorist organizations for years.
For his part, Albares highlighted the close relations between Spain and Iran, stressing the need to maintain mutual cooperation.
The two senior diplomats also talked about the latest developments in Ukraine, the course of cooperation between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency, the negotiations on the removal of sanctions on Iran, and the issues relating to consular affairs between the two nations.
