The Yemeni army and popular committees killed on Thursday a Saudi soldier in a border firefight, according to media reports.
A border guard post in Jizan province came under heavy Yemeni fire at 6:30 am (0330 GMT) on Wednesday, the Saudi interior ministry said.
The Yemeni army and popular committees also destroyed an armored vehicle for the Saudi-led mercenaries in Sarwah city.
Yemen has been since March 26, 2015 under brutal aggression by Saudi-led coalition.
Thousands have been martyred and injured in the attack, with the vast majority of them are civilians.
Riyadh launched the attack on Yemen in a bid to restore power to fugitive ex-president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi who is a close ally to Saudi Arabia.
