Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov discussed the situation in Syria and Russia-Iran relations during a meeting on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
According to a statement released on Friday, “the sides discussed bilateral relations, including the schedule of upcoming contacts on various levels,” IRNA news agency reported.
“The ministers also exchanged opinions on the Syrian agenda in the context of the recent Astana consultations,” the statement said.
The three-day Munich Security Conference kicked off on Friday and is expected to discuss major international issues including NATO future, global order, human security, terrorism and extremism.
Regional issues including the developments in Korea Peninsula, Southeast Asia, Arab World, Syria and Ukraine are also other topics scheduled to be discussed in the 53rd Munich Security Conference.
