Belgian state broadcaster RTBF has reported that a man was shot in the Brussels city center after he attacked two soldiers with a machete. It has been reported that the attacker is in critical condition while both soldiers were lightly injured.

The incident occurred at 8:20 PM local time in Boulevard Emile Jacqmain, in central Brussels.

Prosecutors issued a statement that the attacker “is a 30-year-old man who is not known for terrorist activities.” RTBF reported that the attacker was Somali and shouted “Allahu Akbar” before the attack. Belgian prosecutors have not confirmed this information.
