President of the Republic, General Michel Aoun, presided over the meeting of the Higher Defense Council held this Wednesday in Baabda in the presence of Prime Minister Saad Hariri and concerned ministers and security services chiefs.
During the meeting, conferees discussed the security situation in the country and the Israeli intention to build a wall on the southern border of Lebanon, in addition to Block 9-related threats.
After deliberation, the Council shall take appropriate decisions and give directions thereon. The Council shall keep its decisions confidential in accordance with the law.
President Aoun met with Prime Minister Hariri before the meeting with talks touching on the latest developments.
Attending the meeting were Minister of National Defense, Yaacoub Sarraf, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gebran Bassil, Minister of Finance, Ali Hassan Khalil, Minister of Justice, Salim Jreissati, Minister of Interior, Nuhad Mashnouk, Minister of Economy, Raed Khoury, Army Commander General Joseph Aoun, ISF General Director, Major General Imad Othman, General Security Chief, Major General Abbas Ibrahim, Director General of State Security, General Tony Saliba, HDC Secretary General, General Saadallah Al-Hamad, Intelligence Chief, Brigadier General Toni Mansour, Head of the Information Branch, Colonel Khaled Hammoud.
