Military adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader Major General Mohsen Rezaei described the funeral of the late Leader of the Islamic Revolution Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei as one of the most significant events in contemporary history, saying it drew widespread attention and mourning both inside Iran and abroad, particularly in Iraq.

Rezaei said the massive public turnout demonstrated the Iranian people’s continued commitment to the principles of the Islamic Revolution and “angered Iran’s enemies.”

He stressed that “revenge remains Iran’s main issue,” adding that Tehran would, “by God’s grace,” preserve the Strait of Hormuz, which he described as a strategic deterrent and a key element in protecting Iran’s national security and interests.

“Revenge is the third chapter of the imposed war. It should not be assumed that the issue of revenge will be resolved simply through legal proceedings or with the end of military conflicts.”

Rezaei further said Iran would rely on its defensive capabilities and national strength to safeguard its interests and security.

“This strategic passage is more important than dozens of atomic bombs, and the Islamic Republic of Iran will protect it,” Rezaee was quoted by Iranian media as saying.

Rezaei’s remarks come a day after Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Sayyed Mojtaba Khamenei declared that revenge for martyred Leader Imam Khamenei “is the people’s demand and will certainly be carried out.”

In a statement, Ayatollah Sayyed Khamenei expressed profound gratitude for the historic turnout of tens of millions of mourners who took part in the seven-day funeral processions of his father, martyred Leader Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei across Iran and Iraq particularly in Tehran, Qom, Najaf, Karbala, and Mashhad.
