Multiple Saudi air strikes hit Sanaa International Airport on Monday, with Yemeni Armed Forces declaring that the raids mark “end of de-escalation,” and warning of consequences.

Al-Manar correspondent in the Yemeni capital reported Saudi airstrikes targeting Sana’a International Airport.

Strikes hit the airport’s runways in an apparent bid to block the landing of a plane carrying a Yemeni delegation returning from Iran, where its members took part in the funeral of martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei, according to our correspondent.

The reporter then said that the Saudi airstrikes on Sana’a Airport failed to prevent the Iranian aircraft from landing and breaking the siege imposed on Yemen.

For his part, Spokesman of the Yemeni Armed Forces Brigadier General Yahya Saree condemned the Saudi airstrikes on Sana’a International Airport, saying the attack had brought an end to the period of de-escalation.

“The criminal Saudi enemy’s targeting of Sana’a International Airport with a number of airstrikes constitutes a blatant and unjust aggression and marks the end of the de-escalation phase. It must bear the consequences of this aggression,” Brig. Gen. Saree said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Yemeni Foreign Ministry announced that the de-escalation and ceasefire phase has ended after the Saudi attacks.

“In an unprecedented move, the Saudi regime bombed Sanaa International Airport, thus ending the de-escalation and ceasefire phase,” the Yemeni ministry said in a statement.

Later on Monday, Yemen’s Transport Minister said the Iranian aircraft landed in the homeland, carrying patients, stranded individuals, and the official delegation, despite Saudi strikes on the airport aimed at blocking its landing.
