Israeli warplanes carried out four airstrikes on the abandoned Abu Al-Duhur military airport in the eastern countryside of Idlib province in northern Syria.

Local sources said the attacks were carried out at around 3 am local time (0000GMT).

No information has yet been released on any casualties.

Syrian authorities have not issued any statement on the attack so far.

The base reportedly housed Syria’s fledgling post Assad air force, including around two restored Su-22s, several L-39 trainers and aging helicopters.

The strikes followed footage showing Syrian Su-22s conducting training flights over northern Syria.

Following the fall of Bashar Al-Assad regime, ‘Israel’ expanded its attacks across Syria, targeting weapons and missile depots as well as strategic military sites.

Furthermore, the Zionist entity declared the 1974 Disengagement Agreement to have collapsed and took control of the Syrian buffer zone.

Areas of southern Syria have witnessed repeated Israeli incursions and attacks for months, including raids, searches and arrests, as well as the establishment of military checkpoints.
