House Speaker, Nabih Berri, on Friday adjourned the Parliament session and announced approving the forensic audit of accounts of the Central Bank and all the ministries and public institutions.
Speaker Berri will told MPs that in response to the President of the Republic we have decided the following, “The accounts of the Central Bank, ministries, independent departments, councils, financial institutions, municipalities, and all state funds are subject to forensic audit without any hindrances or attempts at invoking banking secrecy or otherwise.”
“Let us seize the opportunity and demonstrate to all the Lebanese and to the entire world that we are really serious about thrashing out this dossier; therefore, there is no need for some words that have been said a week or two ago outside the House of Parliament.”
President of the Republic, General Michel Aoun, had addressed the Parliament in a letter via the Parliament Speaker calling on MPs to “cooperate with the executive authority in order to enable the state to conduct a forensic accounting audit of Central Bank accounts.
