The General Secretariat of the Lebanese Parliament requested the judicial investigator via the Public Prosecution Office for the documents he relied on to issue accusations against the caretaker prime minister Hassan Diab, two MPs Ali Hasan Khalil as well as Ghazi Zaiter, and former minister Youssef Finianos, to run the file through the House.
Lebanese Judicial investigator in the Beirut port explosion, Judge Fadi Sawan, pressed charges against Diab and the three former ministers for “negligence and causing death and harm to hundreds of people.”
On August 4, two massive blasts rocked Beirut port, killing around 195 people and injuring more than 6000.
The explosions, which obliterated the port, destroyed many buildings in its vicinity and damaged a large number of constructions in the capital, resulted from the detonation of 2750 tons of Ammonium nitrate stored inside of the port’s warehouses.
