Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei said on Tuesday that Islamic ban on nuclear arms has logical foundation.
The Supreme Leader made the remarks to his theology class for high level students of the theology studies.
The Supreme Leader highlighted popularity of the governing system in reference to demonstration on December 28, 2009 to support outcome of presidential election which brought to office for the second term the former president.
Elaborating on the defense capability of the Iranian governing system, the Supreme Leader said that popular base of the governing system is a major parameter for national defense adding that Islam bans weapons of mass destruction for logical and humanitarian reasons.
The Supreme Leader said that Islam advocates humanity and conventional defense.
The Supreme Leader brushed aside the hostile insinuation to downgrade the need for national defense capability, saying that such insinuations aim to make the independent nations to surrender.
The Supreme Leader said that the arrogant powers proved in the past 40 years that they aim to weaken Iranian defense capability and that if the nation lacks the defense power it would be forced to surrender to them whenever they attempted to make aggression on Iran.
Arrogant powers such as the US, seek American style values through wealth and domination over the world but Islam is looking for human dignity through practicing commands of Holy Quran, the Supreme Leader said.
Arrogant powers are opposed to any idea and firm determination in fight against tyranny and discrimination, the Supreme Leader said.
On the need to bolster national defense capability, the Supreme Leader said that the Islamic Republic of Iran should increase its defense might to be able to stand up to such enemies.
Active presence of people in the scene of the Islamic Revolution even after about 40 years is a good indication of defense power of the Islamic system to mobilize the nation which is quite unique in the world, Ayatollah Khamenei said.
