Caretaker prime minster Najib Mikati called on the council of minsters to convene on Wednesday at the Grand Serail in Beirut in order to study and approve 7 items, including mainly those related to the electric power crisis.
The General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers circulated on Monday the call, attaching the list of items included in the agenda of the controversial session.
The Free Patriotic Movement (FPM) stressed that its ministers will boycott all the sessions of the caretaker government, indicating that they contradict with the stipulations of the Constitution.
Energy Minister Walid Fayyad, affiliated with the FPM political team, suggested that all the members of the caretaker government sign the electricity-related decrees due to the presidential vacuum.
However, the government’s circles rejected his initiative and insisted on holding the session whose quorum will be secured only in the case of studying and approving the electricity-related decrees.
