Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian dismissed US and Israeli efforts to halt Tehran’s nuclear program, insisting it will continue under international law and warning of a forceful response to any future Israeli attacks.
Pezeshkian said Tuesday that efforts by the United States and Israel to terminate Iran’s nuclear energy program are futile.
Speaking to Qatar’s Al Jazeera, he stressed that uranium enrichment within Iranian soil would continue in the future within the framework of the international law.
The official’s remarks concerned, what critics have denounced as, a feverish campaign by Washington and Tel Aviv to supposedly eliminate the nuclear program under the pretext of its “deviation towards military purposes.”
“These efforts are based on illusion,” he said, directly addressing claims, including by US President Donald Trump, that Iran’s nuclear capabilities had been neutralized.
“Nuclear capability resides in the minds of our scientists, not in our facilities,” he said.
The Iranian president, meanwhile, repeated the Islamic Republic’s outright rejection of nuclear weapons and its strict pursuance of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.
“We categorically reject possessing nuclear weapons,” he said. “This is our political, religious, human, and strategic position.”
The assertion has been proven unexceptionally right by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)’s inspectors, despite their conducting unprecedentedly rigorous inspections of Iran’s nuclear facilities.
The president noted that Iran remains open to talks, but only with those who respect its right to peaceful enrichment.
“Any future negotiations must be based on a win-win logic,” he said.
He also warned Israel against further attacks, referencing last month’s conflict in which Iran launched ballistic missiles and drones in response to Israeli military aggression that ended with the regime being forced to request a ceasefire only after 12 days.
“We are fully prepared for any Israeli military action, and our forces stand ready to strike deep into the occupied territories once again,” Pezeshkian said.
Pezeshkian also noted how the regime has been trying to hide the sheer extent of the losses it has suffered as a result of the Iranian strikes.
