The Lebanese parliament held on Wednesday a legislative session to hear former Telecoms Ministers Boutros Harb, Nicolas Sehnaoui, and Jamal Jarrah, and to consider the request to lift the parliamentary immunity of MP and former Minister Georges Bouchikian.
The Parliament voted on lifting the parliamentary immunity of MP Georges Bouchikian by a majority of 99 votes in favor, while MP Jamil Al-Sayyed abstained from voting, according to the National News Agency (NNA).
NNA added that Lebanon’s House of Parliament approved, by a majority of 88 votes, the referral of former telecoms ministers Boutros Harb, Nicolas Sehnaoui, and Jamal Jarrah, to an investigation committee, with 9 MPs voting against and 2 abstaining from voting.

After the session, the member of the Loyalty to Resistance parliamentary bloc, MP Hasan Fadlallah, stressed that the anti-corruption files he had prepared, upon the directions of the former Secretary General of Hezbollah Martyr Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah, led to the legislative session.
MP Fadlallah added that Martyr Sayyed Nasrallah was keen on protecting the public funds and fighting the state corruption, recalling that the outcomes of the legislative session respond to those who used to cast doubt on Hezbollah efforts in this regard.
This is a first step on the way of fighting corruption, according to MP Fadlallah, who called on the judiciary to assume its responsibilities pertaining to the anti-corruption trials.
