Iran’s Air Defense Base declared on Saturday that the Islamic Resistance’s air defenses have successfully confronted Israeli strikes on several targets across three provinces, saying that that the damage inflicted from the attacks was minimal.
“The criminal, illegitimate and fake regime of Israel in a move to escalate tensions launched attacks on some military sites in the provinces of Tehran, Khuzestan and Ilam in the early hours of Saturday,” the Iranian Air Defense Base said in a statement.
Iran’s air defenses intercepted and successfully confronted the acts of aggression, it said, adding that some limited damage was caused in some areas, the dimensions of which are being investigated.
The statement urged the Iranian nation to “maintain unity and calm and ignore rumors spread by the enemy media.”
Loud sounds were heard by some people in the vicinity of Tehran in the wee hours of Saturday, which Iranian security sources said were due to the activation of air defense systems.
According to reports, Iranian air defenses successfully shot down adversarial targets in the airspace around Tehran province.

Footage shared online captured what appeared to be interceptions over the Iranian capital.
Reports of explosions near Tehran began to emerge around 2:15 a.m. local time, with the Israeli occupation military releasing a statement confirming that it was attacking, in response to “months of continuous attacks from the Iranian regime against the State of Israel.”

Meanwhile on Saturday, an informed source told Tasnim news agency that the Israeli army’s claim that it has targeted 20 locations across Iran is untrue, noting that the number of locations targeted by the enemy is significantly lower than that.
The source added that the action by the Zionists has been taken from outside the Iranian border and has caused limited damages.
Later on Saturday, the Iranian army announced the martyrdom of two soldiers as a result of the Zionist aggression.
“The reports alleging that 100 Israeli military planes have had a role in the strike are also complete lies, as Israel is seeking to overplay its weak attack,” the source added.
On the other hand, Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization has announced the resumption of flights after a brief suspension following the Israeli attack.
“Flights will return to normal from 9:00 am (0530 GMT) on Saturday,” the spokesperson of the organization said, according to the official IRNA news agency.
