Lebanon President Michel Aoun delivered a speech at the Arab Summit 28th session in Jordan, stressing that the scenes of killing and the sounds of explosions dominate the agenda of the meeting.
President Aoun asked, “Who won the war? Who lost the war? Are we fighting to liberate Al-Quds?” adding “All are losers. All are dead. All are wounded. All are pained.”
All the Arabs are concerned with what is going on, and it is impossible to wait for the foreign-made solution, according to the Lebanese president who added that article 5 in the Arab League Convention prohibits wars among the member states.
President Aoun stressed that the condemnation statements are no longer sufficient and that the Arab league must regain its role in ending the bloodshed.
Lebanon hosts what is equal to half of its population from the Syrian and the Palestinian refugees, and addressing the crisis requires securing their safe return to their countries, the Lebanese President added.
Noting that the current stage is critical and needs enlightened mentalities, President Aoun asserted that Lebanon is ready to help bridge the gaps among the various parties.
President Michel Aoun concluded his speech by stressing that although Lebanon, which has almost recovered from its crises, is still cautious and needs reassurance about the regional crisis.
