US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin highlighted, Saturday in Bahrain at the annual Manama Dialogue, his country’s “commitment to the Middle East region”.
Austin’s remarks appeared aimed at reassuring America’s Gulf Arab allies as the Biden administration tries to revive the nuclear deal.
Austin claimed US would prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon as the Gulf royals saw the U.S.′ chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan, which raised their concerns about America’s commitment to the region.
Austin also alleged US is trying to end the war in Yemen, knowing that Washington has been supporting the Saudi-led coalition in its aggression on the Yemenis since 2015.
